Beethoven Was a Business Man Too
By Laurens van Rooyen

Those who understand my music, will never be unhappy again

Ludwig von Beethoven, German composer 1770-1827

Laurens van Rooyen is one of the Netherland’s most famous (film) composers and pianists. Ever since his father bought him a piano on his 7th birthday, music has filled his life. After finishing his training at the conservatory in Utrecht, his career has flourished.

Beethoven was a small business owner too is a collection of essays on how his heart was won by the piano, the rise and fall of the cd industry and how to be a successful entrepreneur in today’s music industry.

Most stories in this book are based on reality. Some are fiction, based on the life of a composer and a musician on tour. In this book you will find the authors' experiences and opinions on the many changes that the world of music has gone through. It is a collection of essays by a grocer’s son who followed the piano from his early years on, without taking his eye off the business side of the trade. An attitude he humbly shares with Beethoven.
