Whilst studying for a BA (Hons) History, R.E. Black discovered the extraordinary true story of the sixteenth-century pioneer of anatomy, Andreas Vesalius of Brussels and was inspired to write a novel based on his eventful life during a dangerous time of religious unrest throughout Europe and the brave quest for truth by scholars of science and anatomy who were constantly under the threat of charges of heresy.
R. E. Black is British but has lived all over the world including, Australia, USA, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark and Austria. Black is passionate about Renaissance history, travel and 1970s classic rock. Black has also written a sequel to Vesalius: Time Beholds Us Now based on the Dutch Revolt of the sixteenth-century, called Council of Troubles.
